Description: Royal Columbian Hospital's hemodialysis program is managed by the renal unit. Provides on-site hemodialysis for patients with complex care issues and those managing home-based peritoneal dialysis.

For patients aged 18 and over.

Referral

A referral from a nephrologist is required.

Fees

This service is provided to individuals with Provincial Health Insurance; otherwise it is billable. 

Out-of-country dialysis visitors: 

  • A one-time fee for the nephrologist consultation
  • A treatment fee paid to the kidney doctor at each dialysis treatment
  • Each dialysis treatment has a fee that is paid prior to each treatment

Resources

All patients must have current relevant laboratory tests. All out-of-country dialysis visitors must complete and return a letter of agreement before final acceptance. The letter of agreement forms will be sent or faxed to all interested visitors.
