Long-term care with a voice and a choice
We walk the talk of living our mission statement: “strive to provide enriched life experiences to seniors through innovation and creativity.” Our organization’s vision inspires our staff to enrich the lives of those we serve by allowing our residents a “voice and a choice.” This creates a culture that integrates dignity, respect and empathy in delivering quality care.
We focus on person-centered care, using our document “The Resident’s Day,” which was acknowledged as a Leading Practice by Accreditation Canada. We have strong ties to the Burnaby Ismaili Centre Community. Staff speak: Finnish, Tagalog, Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi and Japanese.
There are 60 publicly subsidized, long-term care beds at Cascade Gardens Seniors Community. 12 rooms are single occupancy, 18 are double occupancy and three are multiple-occupancy rooms.
Features
| Room features | Rooms include a hospital bed, nightstand and dresser. All linens and towels are provided. We encourage the personalization of rooms, such as pictures, favourite comforters or television (must be affixed to the wall). Due to limited space, extra furniture will require further consideration. |
| Accessibility | All rooms and common areas are fully wheelchair accessible. |
| Security | Video surveillance, key padded doors and wander alert system. |
| Smoking | This is a non-smoking care community. |
| Parking and transportation | Free visitor parking available. |
| Additional site features | Cascade Gardens Seniors Community has an onsite cat and weekly visits from BC Pets and Friends. Visitors are welcome to bring their pets for a visit. |
Programs
| Social and recreation programs | Robust activity calendar including daily morning exercises, birthday parties and a range of games for all cognitive status, e.g. bingo, Jeopardy or puzzles. |
| Spiritual program | Interdenominational services including Christian bible reading, hymn singing and Ismaili prayer services. |
| Pets | Facility cat, weekly visit from BC Pets and Friends, family visiting pets welcome. |
