Dr. Kenneth Chan played a vital role as a physician leader when a new electronic health record system was implemented at Eagle Ridge Hospital. This was a major change for staff and medical staff, and his expertise, dedication and hands-on involvement were critical to successfully implementing the system.

Dr. Chan is an emergency physician, medical director for the Advance project and associate chief medical information officer at Royal Columbian Hospital.

He says there were many sleepless nights when the hospital was preparing to launch the system. “I feel grateful and privileged that my colleagues nominated me for this award. Knowing they think highly of me and recognizing the impact I’ve had on them is an achievement in itself,” he says.

“Dr. Chan worked tirelessly, day and night. His dedication was so evident,” said Dr. Pearlly Ng, a physician at the Eagle Ridge Hospital and Royal Columbian Hospital Emergency Departments.
