We are looking for volunteers to improve the quality of life for our residents. Volunteering provides meaningful social interactions, skill development and companionship; all of which fosters an engaging health care community. Chénchenstway’s inaugural volunteer program launches in January 2025.,
Chénchenstway is a newly established long-term care community that opened in October 2023, offering 216 single bedrooms with individual washrooms for residents to ensure privacy and comfort. The facility includes in-house dining services, accessible outdoor spaces, a salon and a rehabilitation gym. Located in Burnaby, Chénchenstway is the only long-term care home in British Columbia jointly operated by two health authorities, Fraser Health Authority and Providence Health Care.

Requirements
Volunteers must meet the following requirements to be a successful candidate:
- Minimum commitment of 6 months (one weekly shift of 2 to 4 hours)
- Minimum age of 16 (parent/legal guardian consent is required for under 18)
- Interest in health care and comfortable volunteering in a senior home setting
- Proficient in English
- Ability to commute to Burnaby (7550 Rosewood Street)
If you are a successful candidate, you will be asked to provide and complete the following:
- Criminal record check
- Two references
- Mandatory new volunteer orientation curriculum on LearningHub
- Attendance to Group Site Orientation (usually 2 to 4 hours)
