Abbotsford long-term care community

A new long-term care community is underway to provide seniors in Abbotsford and the surrounding area with access to home-like care in the community.

Fraser Health will be building a new five-storey long-term care community in Abbotsford, adjacent to the Maplewood House long-term care home and the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and be completed in 2027.

The care home will have 200 beds and will be designed as “households” − each accommodating 12 or 13 residents. Each resident will have a single-bed room with a bathroom.

There will be social and recreational spaces included in the new facility, such as a living room, dining room, activity space and access to the outdoors. There will also be community spaces and services for residents, families, visitors and staff, including art and activity rooms, a hair salon, a sacred space and a 32-space adult day program for people living more independently.
