Chénchenstway long-term care community

A renovated long-term care home opened in October 2023, supporting seniors and their loved ones in the community of Burnaby.

Chénchenstway is a 216-bed long-term care community offering residents privacy and comfort with private rooms, individual washrooms and accessible outdoor spaces. Formerly the New Vista long-term care home, the renovations were undertaken in partnership with Providence Health Care and Vancouver Coastal Health to help ensure that more seniors have access to high-quality and dignified care.

Additional amenities for Chénchenstway residents include more showering facilities, updated dining rooms and space for social activities. The building was also upgraded to improve airflow, heating and air conditioning.

Chénchenstway is a Squamish word that means ‘to lift each other up.’ Fraser Health is grateful to the Squamish community for gifting this name to the home.
