Learn about our commitment to accessibility by reading our interim Accessibility Plan.
The interim Accessibility Plan is an important first step in ensuring an accessible and more inclusive health care system for those who serve at and are served by Fraser Health.
Read the full interim Accessibility Plan.
The goal of the interim Accessibility Plan is to outline initial priority areas that will guide our work in identifying and eliminating barriers experienced by people with disabilities. We acknowledge accessibility is a critical concept for health care systems to embed in all areas of engagement, and our work is grounded in meaningful consultation and collaboration with those with lived experiences with disability, who we recognize as experts in their respective experiences.
Along with the guidance of the Accessible British Columbia Act and the Fraser Health Accessibility Advisory Committee, the following six principles have served as a guide for this work. These are:
- Inclusion
- Adaptability
- Diversity
- Collaboration
- Self-determination
- Universal design
