COVID-19 vaccine information

As of October 2024, the KP.2 formulation of the COVID-19 vaccine is available in B.C.

• Moderna Spikevax Omicron KP.2 mRNA vaccine for individuals aged six months and older
• Pfizer Comirnaty Omicron KP.2 mRNA vaccine for individuals 12 years of age and older

At least one dose of the COVID-19 KP.2 vaccine is recommended for those six months of age and older who are at increased risk of COVID-19 infection or severe disease. This includes:

• Those 65 years of age and older
• Indigenous peoples
• Residents of long-term care homes, assisted living facilities or alternate level or care
• Individuals with underlying medical conditions
• Individuals who are pregnant
• People who provide essential community services, i.e. health care workers and first responders

Anyone else aged six months and older who wishes to receive the vaccine is also eligible.

Vaccines do more than protect the people getting vaccinated, they also protect everyone around them. The more people in a community who are immunized and protected from COVID-19, the harder it is for COVID-19 to spread.

Vaccines are only one part of our layers of protection against COVID-19. Continue to use your health awareness: monitor your symptoms, wash your hands often, stay home if you feel sick or have any signs of symptoms and respect people’s comfort levels.

Anyone who is registered with the provincial Get Vaccinated system will be sent an invitation and booking link for their COVID-19 vaccine via text or email.

If you have not registered previously, visit the Get Vaccinated system to register. Alternately, you can call 1-833-838-2323 to register and book appointments. 

You can also call your primary care provider to see if they have COVID-19 vaccines available and then book an appointment.

Yes, the COVID-19 vaccine can be given at the same time or any time before or after other vaccinations including influenza.

The date of your previous dose(s) can be found on your Immunization Record Card, which you would have received at the time of your vaccination.

People who are homebound or have other challenges which make it difficult to attend an immunization site, such as vision or hearing difficulties, can request to have their vaccinations at home.

To request a home visit, please call the Home Health service line at 1-855-412-2121. The team will assess if you are eligible and, if you are, work with you to arrange the in-home vaccination.
