Rehabilitation therapy helps to restore, improve and maintain your ability to move and keep active.

What types of services are offered?

Physical and occupational therapy:

  • Improves muscle strength, balance and coordination
  • Provides fall prevention recommendations
  • Offers mobility assessments and recommendations
  • Optimize functional activities
  • Offers strategies to make your home more accessible and safer
  • Prescribes and supports the use of safety equipment in the home
  • Connecting clients with community resources
  • Provides pain education and self management strategies
  • Facilitates community access
  • Supports transition from hospital to community

Medical equipment and supplies

Having the right medical equipment helps keep you safer. You may need to rent or buy  equipment such as walkers, bath seats, wheelchairs, or lifts. If you are not using the right equipment, it may impact your safety and independence. It may also affect our ability to provide services safely.

You usually have to pay for your home health supplies and equipment.  If you are not able to do so, please reach out to your home health clinician.

To help with costs, other funding agencies might cover some or all of your expenses:

  • Extended health benefits plan
  • Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction
  • BC Rebate for Accessible Home Adaptations (BC RAHA)
  • Veterans’ Affairs Canada
  • First Nations Health Authority
  • Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC)
  • WorkSafeBC

For clients with an active ICBC or WorkSafe BC claim, rehabilitation services and equipment are funded by ICBC or WorkSafe BC.

  • New clients can contact our Home Health Service Line at 1-855-412-2121 (open seven days a week, 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.; on statutory holidays between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
