About the “Your Life and Recovery Journey” Workbook 

Anyone can use the “Your Life and Recovery Journey” workbook. We use the idea of a forest to tell a story about life. Significant events may happen more than once in your life. When we talk about significant life events, this can be a(n):

  • Significant loss
  • Death of a loved one
  • Trauma, the onset of a mental illness, or a reoccurrence of that experience
  • Physical illness
  • Substance use issue
  • Injury that leads to a physical disability

To illustrate the impacts of these events and what happens afterwards, we talk about a process called recovery, which means finding your way in life and living the life you want. The workbook guides a process of developing plans that can help to define:

  • What recovery looks like for you
  • What wellness looks like for you
  • How to deal with any periods of crisis that you may encounter
