There are a number of endocrine conditions that may affect school-aged children, such as Adrenal insufficiency, which may require injected cortisol or similar medications.
Parents/guardians or schools with questions about medical management of endocrine conditions are encouraged to contact the child’s endocrinologist for direction. Parents may also connect directly with the BC Children’s Hospital Endocrinology Clinic for support.
BC Children’s Hospital has online resources for families/schools including:
- Booklet on ‘preparing your child for daycare or school’
- School letter
- Hydrocortisone injection instructions
