Women make up more than 80 per cent of our workforce at Fraser Health. This Saturday, March 8 marks International Women’s Day. To honour this day, we are highlighting women who offer exceptional, patient-centred, innovative care, foster inclusivity and champion cultural safety. Their remarkable stories demonstrate their efforts to enhance the health of our patients, clients and communities and show that with unwavering commitment and genuine compassion, one can transform a job into a calling.

Addictions Counsellor and Above and Beyond Award Recipient Nola Slade is taking service delivery to the next level by inspiring wellness through a holistic, culturally safe approach for the clients entering the Maple Ridge Treatment Centre’s Substance Use Program.
Dr. Sonia Singh, a Fraser Health hospitalist physician and osteoporosis specialist, brought the Fracture Liaison Service to Fraser Health in 2015. She received the Michael Smith Health Research BC Professional-Investigator Award which will allow for more patient-oriented research and the potential expansion of this service.
Darlene Dalby is an inspiring nurse and visionary for Indigenous Peoples. In her work as an Indigenous health liaison, she provides support and advocacy for First Nations, Métis and Inuit patients and their families.

She supports research co-led and co-created by Dr. Nitasha Puri and the team at the Roshni Clinic in collaboration with people who have lived experience using substances and their families which focuses on improving the lives of Panjabi men who use substances.
Speech-Language Pathologists Mindy Marriott and Katie Marochi are recipients of an Above and Beyond Innovator Award for developing a transformative, virtual model of care.
